Maya : Week 26

Rice cereal has made Maya "regular". Its the kinda "regular" that makes my cousin Wah gag and me cry [tear]. She is also starting to be able to sit, utlizing the "tripod" position. Maya also has sweaty feet. Yes folks, my 6 month old baby has clamy feet [stinky]. This is the amazing part of parenting. Watching her characteristics develop, good and bad.

Can you guess what Maya's favorite color? The picture above gives it away. Now, can you guess her favorite Ugly Doll [below]?

Minimum Wage [name of the RED one with the apron] from my Ugly Doll collection...uhmmm...i mean...Maya's Ugly Doll collection.

Asia Trip by Pan : Vietnam

(Far right is lotus, Green stuff is tapioca jelly, Pink stuff is like bobba w/ water chestnut inside [CRUNCHY], White stuff is chewy coconut.)

Starts with fresh coconut juice, they then add whatever additional ingredient and crushed ice. I can't remember how much it was but I know it was super affordable. Maybe eight drinks for $2 or something like that.

That market of course didn't have AC so we were sweating like crazy!
Pictured is me (PAN), Dung from Vietnam and Jenn.

Maya : Week 25

Pan is back from Asia. Things are slowly returning to normal. We found out that Maya had a skin rash + dry skin. Add that to a slight fever (from daycare) and possible teething, and you get CMCB (Crazy Moody Crack Baby).

After a trip to the doctor, application of some medical cream to the rash areas, my little Maya Ya Ya was back! Happy Happy. I think now that I have a better understanding of what is involved, Pan and I can work better as a team. I think Pan is the Robin to my Batman. Pan thinks I am Kevin to her Britney...well...she is my Sugar Momma.

Thanks to all the people who have commented to my recent posts and for the suggestions!

Pan in Asia - Day 7

I think my baby is on crack. After what has been a very long week, Maya decides to crack out on me. One second she is all smiles and then she starts to cry. Maya has cried more in the last hour, than she has in the past month. Of course I freaked out. What the hell is going on? Is she in pain? Is she hurt? Did I do something wrong?

After a few moments of freaking out, it dawns on me. The logical explaination is that she is on crack. Maya shows all the signs. That has to be it. It explains why my normally calm baby is spazing out on me. Why else would she be laughing one moment, then crying the next? She never crys...but the then again, she never peed on me before either. Signs of things to come? Great, now I am going to cry.

Pan in Asia - Day 6

Maya threw a curve ball at me today. Just when I thought I had everything under control. My daily routine going like clock work. I pick Maya up from daycare, we walk the dogs, I bathe her, feed her, change her...(here is the curve ball)...as I am switching diapers, Maya pees on me. You would think that the sensation of warm liquid, running down ones arm would be soothing after a long work week...uhmmm...I guess I am not a Golden Shower kinda guy.

Hand dripping with pee, half naked baby, changing pad puddled with pee, clean diaper in my other non-peed on hand, I froze. This was not part of the routine. I thought we were a team. So, I did what anyone else in my position would do, I looked up at the bathroom ceiling and cried out "MMMMMMMommmmma!!!!!!!!"

[Maya was smiling the whole time]

Come home soon Pan, we miss you!

Maya : Week 24

This past week has been a blur. With Pan on a business trip in Asia, I have been spending a lot of quality time with Maya.

Maya has patiently listened to my rants about work [not that she has much choice], and I in turn, listen to her complain about daycare...well, actually she enjoys daycare...very much...its mostly me ranting about work.

Joey So-Dill-Lay came downtown and took me out for a birthday dinner. He also brought a container of freshly baked cookies his wife Jess made especially for me. Mmmmm, Green Tea Almond Cookies and Chocolate Chip Espresso Cookies. Delicious, soft and chewy...I could not stop eating them this morning. One right after another, alternating. A near perfect post birthday breakfast, until that is, when I go to the fridge and find that I am out of MILK! What to do, what to do? I stared at the baby bottles full of breast milk and formula I just got done preping for daycare. How bad could it be? Milk is milk right? Kampai!

This is Maya after a few Espresso cookies. [JK]

Pan in Asia - Day 3

I think I got my routine down now. It helps that Maya and the dogs have been nice to poppa. Bribing them helps too. Dog biscuits and breast milk. Half asleep or maybe from low blood sugar, I almost gave Maya the dog biscuit and Buddy the breast milk. Sheesh. I just need to figure out how to sneak in a meal inbetween bottle feeding, diaper changing, dog walking and bottle washing.

"Poo Poo"

Pan is on a business trip for 10 days. Thats 10 days of me being a single parent. 10 days of me, Maya and the three dogs. One day down and I am already exhausted. I have a new found respect for all the single parents out there. We recently introduced rice cereal to Maya's diet. Her poops have been what nightmares are made of...I not kidding...its scary [whimper].

Maya : Week 23

Maya has learned to roll over. We come back to the crib to find her on her tummy, a smile across her face, realizing that she just accomplished something amazing. She now uses this new learned ablitiy all the time. As soon as she wakes, before she goes to sleep, while her diaper is being changed. Next up...crawling.

Labor Day Weekend

To celebrate Labor Day, Pan, Maya and I gathered with friends for food, sun and volleyball. This would be the first prolong period spent outdoors since Maya's birth. We could not have wished for better weather.

The grill was fired up and folks started to arrive. I brought Orange Soy Ribs, finished on the grill and Garlic Citrus Marinaded Chicken. JoeyS made skewered Steak and Pineapple Kabobs, Kelly made pasta salad and Ginger Snap Cookies [YUM], Jeremiah brought turkey burgers and Nathan hotdogs, and Derrick brought brats. [Sorry if I forgot anyone]

Hours of fun in the sun and many games of volleyball later [Nate, 1-8 is better than 0-9], we gathered around the fire pit to burn whatever we could lay our hands on, with a little guitar, beer and funny conversation. I could not script a better way to spend the last offical weekend of summer!
