Maya : Month 21

Maya had a Christmas program at daycare. Every room got to perform in front of a audience from senior care and parnets.


Once the music started playing, some of the kids either started crying or faced away from the audience. Maya, well...she just froze.


Afterwords, we had a potluck. It was nice to see that Pan's triple berry muffins we a big hit with the kids. It was nice to see that Maya had developed good eating habits at daycare. She sat, she ate until her plate was clean. Made daddy proud.

Thanksgiving 07, Dinner

We started Thanskgiving day with the favorite asian pastime...gambling. In between sessions of Hold'em, I helped with some of the food preparations. I was in charge of the stuffing, so prepped and finished in the morning.


Even though it looked like I have the chip lead (pictured above), Uncle Will took me out. I was left standing outside with a bottle of Stella and watching the Turkey in the deep fryer.


Like every year, we had enough food to feed an army. We had Apple cidar brined turkey, fried turkey, roast beef, baked ham, three different stuffings, mac and cheese, green beans, sweet potato casserole, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and much more.

After I finished my plates of food, I made, with the help of Pan and Yoshimi, a big pot of William Sonoma Hot Chocolate, topping each glass with a artisan Chocolate marshmallow. This was a big hit with the kids and went quick.


After all was finished eating, we took group pictures. Lots of group pictures.


After pictures we played some Guitar Hero, Uncle Paul gives Maya a lesson (Pictured above). Most the family then played Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. This is one of the best group games out for the Wii. Everyone had a great time. You can even use you Mii characters when playing.


The best part of Thanksgiving is the day after. Helen Agoo made Turkey Congee. Topped with a little white pepper, sliced green onions and a bit of sesame oil...heaven. Thanksgiving holiday is never complete without a pot of Turkey Congee.


Thanks to all our family and friends who made this the most fantastic Thanksgiving ever. Maya had a blast, surrounded by some many family and friends. She really liked the Ax4 (pictured above: Ashton, Ally, Maya, Anna Lily & Arden).

Thanksgiving 07, Dalton

We started our first day in Dalton with...what else, a trip down to Atlanta. Never fails. Every Thanksgiving we always go to Atlanta for one thing or another. One Thanksgiving, we had to go four out of five days. This year, I figured if we plan it right, we would maximize our time there and not have to do it again this trip.


We started by stopping for lunch with the Stricklands, where Maya made a new bestest friend Caroline and discovered a love for cheese dip and chips. Maya also got her new favorite stuffed animal (pictured above), which she has since named "Sock". Its the only stuffed animal she will refer to by name. How the name "Sock" came about, I have no idea.

After Lunch, we headed down to Lenox Mall for a bit of shopping. By a bit, I mean the rest of the day. It is funny how things are so different from West Coast to East Coast. Same but different. Pan finally got to go to Y-3, which luckily, she kept the damage to a minimum.

Later that night we met up with the family and hit Henry's Louisiana Grill in Acworth.

Oysters, shrimp & crawfish flash fried and tossed with Tasso, spinach and roasted garlic in Henry’s Cajun cream sauce. Served over bread tower or angel hair pasta.

I washed it all down with a couple of bottles of Turbo Dog. I could feel my arteries hardening, but man was it worth it. Although I would skip the Gator next time. Chef Henry was not there on this night and it showed. One of the kitchen guys had a heavy hand when it came to the salt on a few of the dishes, but all and all a good meal.

The next day we decided to head up to Chattanooga for some Lupi's Pizza. I always look forward to our visits to Lupi's not only for their pizza, but also there wonderful, wonderful beer selection.


We ordered three pies this day. Spinach, Ricotta and Roast Garlic (White Pizza), Sausage & Mushrooms and a Chicken, Fresh Tomato and Avocado.


Between the six of us, we took down most of the pizza pies. I more happy to drink my Samuel Smith's Organic Lager.


Later that evening, Wah made us a few Turbo Dog Floats. Turbo Dog and Breyers Vanilla bean ice cream. For those who has never tried it, I highly recommend it. By the way Wah, you making this for me every year.

Thanksgiving 07, Part 3

We started day 3 in Savannah by having breakfast over at the McKinnon's. It was almost like old times , when Pan and I rented the down stairs unit on Duffy.


Man, it brought back memories of Saturday mornings, hopping in Pat's truck and heading to Home Depot for scum dogs and supplies for the days house project.


After breakfast, we headed to Forsyth Park for the yearly book fair.


Maya loves the animated Curious George, but she didn't care for dude in the costume.


After making the rounds and looking at the booths, we stopped at the play ground.


Next up was Volleyball. No trip to Savannah would be complete without a day of volleyball. We have been playing here on the grass of Forsyth Park since school. I love to tell you of all the spectacular Spikes and volleys we had, but the truth is, it took a bit to work through the rust. It didn't matter though, for me, it was keeping the spirit of "us" playing volley at Forsyth alive.


After the games, T-Roy, Ms. Meg, Dan, Jan-no and I had a glass of Dalwhinnie, 16 year, single malt scotch, lying in the grass, and some good conversation.


And like the previous years, we followed Volleyball in Forsyth Park with dinner at Sushi Zen. Yoshi and Amy made time in their busy schedules to meet us at the downtown location. Like previous years, we took over the top floor. Unlike last year, we made sure that Jan-no kept hydrated during volleyball, so that he was able to par take in the beer and sake this evening.

We ended the evening meeting up with Ding at WG's for a few pints and some darts. I teamed with Dan and together, we gave Ding and Jan-no a few "Free Lessons" [cough...cough].
