Beer...Good For You

Drinking a glass of beer every day can lower your risk of heart disease and cataracts by 50 percent, according to a new Canadian study. The reason: Polyphenols, the potent antioxidants found in both wine and beer, protect the body from hardened arteries and stress to the eye lens. For maximum benefit, drink darker beer, such as stout and ale, which are brewed with higher concentrations of barley malt and have more than twice as many antioxidants as light beers do. -Marissa Lippert
